Meet Elena
Born and raised in Medellin, Colombia, my journey to Classical Hatha Yoga was not a straight road but a path filled with many ups and downs. At 19, I fell in love and married my husband. We spent the next 16 years building a life in Canada with our three young children until my husband’s untimely passing in 2019.
Through a simple twist of fate, later that year, I found myself at Inner Engineering in Toronto, Ontario, during a time of profound grief. This two-day event was a unique opportunity to spend invaluable time with Sadhguru and receive life-transforming tools directly from him.
Little did I know then, but these two events I experienced would propel me on a transformative life path that would enroll me for the intensive 1750+ hours of Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in Coimbatore, India.
In 2023, after spending the previous year in India, I continued to navigate the outer landscapes, crossing from one country to another on a spiritual exploration, discovering the beauty of Europe, the Middle East, and, more importantly, my inner landscape.
To say Classical Hatha Yoga changed my life does little to define the incredible gift of yoga. For this, imparting yoga has become my life mission: to deliver the tools of transformation available to everybody regardless of age, religion, or social status. Indeed, I do not see myself as a ‘yoga teacher’ in the modern sense but rather as a vehicle of transformation, a conduit that allows yoga to flow through me through Sadhguru’s Grace.
With that, Sahana Hatha Yoga was born. It was adopted from the ancient mantra Om Sahana Vavatu (Sanskrit: ॐ सह नाववतु). It is considered a shanti mantra, a chant or prayer for peace.
The name of this mantra is derived from several Sanskrit terms. Om is considered to be the primal sound of the universe and a symbol of universal consciousness or the Divine. Saha means “together,” nau, means “both” and avatu can be translated as “may he protect.”
Otherwise known as the teaching mantra, Om Sahana Vavatu is believed to unite teacher and student through the protection of the Divine. It can help clear any negative energy between them, allowing them to enter the learning process harmoniously.
With that philosophy in mind, you will explore the purest form of yoga with me at Sahana and discover a holistic approach to health, wellness, and inner well-being. Take a journey towards complete rejuvenation and inner peace. Whether you’re just starting or have been practicing for years, the ancient practice of classical hatha yoga and its transformative power on your mind, body, and soul offers a path to profound self-discovery. You will be guided in a sacred space for personal empowerment and transformation.
I offer programs suitable for any age, experience level, or physical ability with private or group sessions, corporate functions, retreats, workshops, schools, and more.
Unlike many modern yoga classes and studios, I believe in the power of silence, eliminating distractions such as music, mirrors, and props. My classes maintain a peaceful atmosphere with quiet demonstrations, allowing you to learn undisturbed. I uphold a hands-off approach, providing respectful instruction without physical interventions.
Your holistic well-being journey starts here.
Blessings,
Elena
